Peebles March Riding and Beltane Queen Festival Introduction Night

FRIDAY 18th APRIL at 7.00PM IN THE BURGH HALL

On Friday, we will learn who will lead this year’s Beltane Festival. Come along to the Burgh Hall to hear first who this year’s principals are.

The fun starts at 7pm in the hall with some musical entertainment and a coffee evening, there will also be a raffle.

Please note there will be a silver collection on entry.

Peebles Burgh Silver Band will provide the musical accompaniment for what will be another memorable celebration in the build up to the Beltane Festival.

After the raffle Chairman Lorna Evans, as befitting tradition, will unveil this year’s Principals to the public.

She will announce the names of the Cornet Elect, Cornet Elect’s Lass, Crowning Lady, Warden of Cross Kirk, Warden of Neidpath and the Proclaimer of the Beltane Fair. So don’t be late – oh, and don’t forget we will be singing loudly The Beltane Song for the first time in 2025!

After the announcement the principals will move amongst the public so you can pass on your congratulations. Then supported by his right and left hand men, the Cornet Elect will mount his sturdy 2 wheeled chariot to greet the watching public in the High Street before dismounting to prepare himself for remainder of the evening in Peebles Rugby Club. Of course he will be supported by his lass and fellow principals. Put it in your diary, Friday 18th 7pm, we can’t wait to see you.
