We hope everyone had a great Beltane. It was great to see the town turned red and white and the work that had gone into house decorations. The Beltane hut will be open this Thursday 26th and Friday 27th June, from 6:30pm until 9pm, for returns.
After careful consideration, following the slightly cooler start to the day, and the predicted cloud cover in the next couple of hours, the decision has been taken to revert to the church steps for the ceremony. Suitable actions will be taken to encourage children to sit whenever they can and a water will be available for all of them.
Thanks to all those who have volunteered so far. We're still needing volunteers for Marshal duties and street collections. We particularly need marshal support for the Saturday Grand Parade on the 21st June.
Notice to Organisations and adults with children attending the Cross Kirk Inaugural Service on Sunday 15th June 2025. The Fiona Henderson School of Dance has kindly allowed Peebles Beltane Festival to use their toilet facilities.
Fancy Dress Content judging commences at 7pm on Friday 20th June, and the parade will be leaving at 7.30pm. Registration for the contest is optional - you can still just turn up on the night and take part - but this pre-registration is to assist with number management and contact details.
The committee is hopeful that as many as possible will take part in the decorated shops and houses competitions and turn the town red and white. There are two separate competitions which greatly enhance the town during Beltane. As ever, the Best Decorated Shop or Business will be awarded the Maharaj Kumar Challenge Shield, while the winners of the House Decoration will receive the Community Council Cup.
This year, the committee have introduced a new initiative, where every P3 child at the town’s Primary Schools will receive a booklet to mark their first involvement in the crowning ceremony. We hope they have a fantastic Beltane 2025.
