Beltane Queen, First Courier and members of the Court announced

The final pieces fell into place this afternoon when the Beltane Queen, First Courier and members of the Court were announced at the Drill Hall.

P6 and P7 children from the three primary schools in the town gathered in the hall at 2.15pm where the announcements were made, before they were each introduced to the public outside the hall afterwards.

Once announced, and the traditional photo taken, pipers led the children along the High Street before arriving at Tweed Green for ice cream.

Decorated Shops and Houses

The committee is hopeful that as many as possible will take part in the decorated shops and houses competitions and turn the town red and white. There are two separate competitions which greatly enhance the town during Beltane. As ever, the Best Decorated Shop or Business will be awarded the Maharaj Kumar Challenge Shield, while the winners of the House Decoration will receive the Community Council Cup.

My Beltane Booklet

This year, the committee have introduced a new initiative, where every P3 child at the town’s Primary Schools will receive a booklet to mark their first involvement in the crowning ceremony. We hope they have a fantastic Beltane 2025.
